Sewing Memories

I recently added to my profile a little history of my sewing.  I took a sewing class when I was ten years old and did quite well.  I even received an award as the best sewer in the class.  Since I was the only male, I always wondered if that was a true award or not.  Anyway I didn't start sewing again until a little over a year ago.  I don't know why I waited so long.
I was digging in my toy chest and found my sewing machine from when I was 6 or 7 years old.  I think it was from the Sears catalog.  Yes, Santa did some shopping at Sears.  I haven't played with it in years. Runs on batteries, hand crank, or electric. I put a needle in it, but it doesn't sew properly.  Maybe the wrong needle?  It is a Crystal.  Brought back a lot of fond memories.

Something else in my toy chest brought back memories also.

I am glad I saved all this stuff.  Also, my mom never threw it out.

I am still working on my Argyle shirt, I will blog about it next.

Thanks for stopping.

  1. Cool little machine! I especially like how the cover swings around to extend the sewing surface. I wonder who designed/manufactured it for Sears?

Most smaller machines used a 24X1 system needle. They can most easily be found on eBay as most stores/dealers don't carry them anymore.
